The Power of Thankfulness

Assalamualaikum i wish to all the muslim and muslimah all over the world. We as a Muslim must be thankful for what we have in this world. As we can see most of us living in a life where it is sufficient for us to fully submit ourselves to the only god of the all universe Allah SWT. Youth and anger is very synonym. We must be able to control our emotions and anger no matter in what circumstances.

I am in a journey of fulfilling my ambition to be a good pilot and whatever you planned, Allah SWT is the best planner for you. Remember to respect the elder and be sincere in whatever you do in your life . insyAllah.

Malaysia Airspace

There are types of airspace in Malaysia. Airspace can be a controlled and uncontrolled airspace. In Malaysia
we have class A, B, C and G type of airspace. A,B and C are characterized as controlled airspace while class G is uncontrolled. It is better to picture it into a diagram. As taken from Malaysia AIP.

Layout of control airspace.

2.3       Provision of Air  Traffic  Services.

To understand the ATS provided, one has to understand the various types of Airspaces  designated generally divided  into two :

a)    Control Airspace and Uncontrolled Airspace :

·         Control Airspace - It is an Airspace  of defined dimensions in which a full  Air Traffic  Control  (ATC ) are exercise and al flights must adhere  strictly to the condition applied therein  under Instructions and Control of the Air Traffic Controllers.

·         Uncontrolled Airspace - It is the airspace of defined  Dimensions  outside  the Control Airspace whereby all flights are not subject to Air Traffic Control. However these flights are provided with  Advisory  Services which include Air Traffic Information, Alerting and SAR services, Weather Information’s and others pertinent for the safety of the flights. These flights includes General  Flying , Helicopters , Military Tactical Flights and others flying under the VFR (Visual Flight Rules ).VFR   Flying generally refers to flying with reference to the ground and in good weather conditions. These Airspaces are found beneath the Airways and those between the   Airways parameters. The Uncontrolled Airspace are use, namely by General Aviation  aircraft  and Military tactical aircraft.

2.4       Types of Control Airspace

Generally there are 3 types:

              i.        Airways

Airways are airspaces of defined dimensions, sort of air corridors generally 10 to 30   nautical miles wide, with an upper limit up to 46,000 feet (herein mentioned in ATC as Flight Level or FL 460 ) and  a lower limit of about 8,000 feet. However the lower levels varies .The Airways encompassed the Air Traffic Services Routes that joint various points in the sky to provide protection to all flights. For Example the Airways on the west Coast of peninsular Malaysia coded A 464 begins in Bangkok, overflies Malaysia to Indonesia and onwards to Australia. The Airway Corridors are marked with Various Navigation Aids such as  an NDB (Non –Directional Beacon) and  the more precise and accurate VOR/DME ( VHF Omni Directional/ Distance  Measuring Equipment) (See Fig  2B – an artistic view of the  layout of the Control Airspaces).

            ii.        Control Zones or CTR

Control Zones are airspaces established at  manned Air Traffic Control Airports such as  Malacca, Ipoh, Alor Star,  Kuala Terengganu  in Peninsular Malaysia and Sibu, Bintulu, Tawau, Sandakan in Sabah and Sarawak. A Control Zone is an Airspace of defined Dimensions in which a full Air Traffic Control are exercise in which all flights must adhere to strictly to ATC. A Control Zone Airspace is normally about 20 nautical miles radius from the Airport and has upper level of around  3,000 to 9,000 feet from ground level (See Fig 2C).

           iii.        Terminal Control Areas (TMA)

However, when there are two or more Airports are clustered together with their Control Zones, then the main airport is given the Authority to exercise Air traffic Control in airspace named Terminal Control Area (TMA). For Example there are 3 airports in the Kuala Lumpur Area, namely KLIA Sepang, Subang Airport, and TUDM Sg Besi each with her own Control Zone, Therefore a TMA is establish to encompassed all the three airports with a total of 4 runways. The TMA Airspace stretches about 60 nautical mile radius  encompassing all the airports above the  Control Zones to about 24,500 feet .The Controlling Authority in this case is vested with Kula Lumpur Approach Radar Centre,  call sign “Lumpur Director” housed  at the Air Traffic Control Centre (ATCC) at Subang Airport. Other TMA’s are established at Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Butterworth, Kota Bahru and Johor.

The Passion of Flying

To be honest and not to be cocky im now a real pilot. i have my PPL in my hand now. it means a lot to me as from now on i will only need to keep clocking my hours so that i can upgrade my license to CPL(IR) license. its a dream come true. the job has not done yet and it will always never be done as piloting is a long term study and it needs courage from the inside. you have to be centered of what you are to achieve in aviation world.  Piloting is a journey. =) there are exercises to be completed in my training, it means that i have to be competent in doing the exercises. the first exercise is the General Handling(GH) exercise. it covers all the local procedure in handling the aircraft accurately and safely. in GH i have a climb, descent, climb and descending turn, medium turn, steep turn, stall and also the circuit flying. All of the flying is to get yourself in charge of the aircraft and not the other way around. After completing the GH exercise i was introduced to Navigation flight(NAV). Nav is not a local flying as you flying from and to different control zone and this is a good introduction to a cross country flying.  Many procedures should be done during this exercise. once again you have to think ahead of the aircraft. Aviate, navigate and communicate is the order of doing things up there. after Nav i was introduced to Instrument Flying(IF). During reduced visibility we cannot fly with visual reference and we have to rely on the instrument installed in the cockpit to get our position and to the station. this is something new and the most interesting part of the flying experience for me. you have to maintain good orientation and make sure you dont be fooled by the instrument. do not get confused. for CPL flying in KB, we only do VOR Y Rwy10 for our letdown exercise. this one is the most challenging as you got to trust your instrument without looking outside. .hell yeah. hahaha. InsyAllah one day il be one of the guys who fly the jet. =) thats the dream, goal and target that i have to achieve and all my effort should be on it. dont you think so?? i think so. so dont bother. concentrate and focus. its al about knowledges and the skills that you required to be an airlines pilot. this is my journey. =)

My current office or maybe study room.hahaha =)

The Beauty of Instrument Flying (IF)

We are going to need charts. Without the charts your flight path will be a messed up. ADF(NDB) is a good instrument as it is very sensitive to magnetic waves. in WMKC we are going to use VOR Y RWY 10 as initial IF exercise. the indicator will be a CDI indicator. as we know radio aid stations is a magnetic devices. As a result your rmi or rbi will be pointing to the station no matter what heading you are in. its a good double check for your position. you cannot start your flight in VFR and continue in IFR but you can start your flight in IFR and continue in VFR. keep that in mind and you wont lost or anything.

The Approach and Landing Techniques

To close a flight you must land the aircraft and bring it to a full stop. Approach and landing is a very crucial phase of flight. There is not a pilot who never did a bad landing. each and every pilot must have experienced it at least once. and one should bear in mind a good landing comes from a good approach. a good approach is a stabilized approach. a stabilized approach stable in the vertical and the horizontal speed. a 3 degree approach angle is desirable depending on the type of approach you are flying. the approach speed is essential during approach as it will determine your rate of flaring, your round out height and also your ground roll and braking efficiency. Most of the beginner pilots could not maintain a good approach speed. the optimum approach speed is 1.3 of the configuration stall speed. this speed should be maintained all the way until touch down so that aircraft pitching response is less sensitive (low pitching rate and hence easier for us to measure the amount of control input needed during the flare/ unit step input and/or unit impulse input) and you have ample time to think on many other things.A repetition from above, when we enter the flaring part at low speed the aircraft is less sensitive in the pitching attitude and we can control it without jerking the control and hence avoiding the aircraft from ballooning or bouncing.
the reasons that caused ballooning and bouncing are:

1) high rate of descent and bouncy gears.
2) high speed approach and/or power.
3) over-controlling the aircraft (incorrect flare technique result in jerking the control)

Although it is possible to land the aircraft at high speed, the pitching attitude must be well controlled to avoid the aircraft from ballooning. to cushion the landing we reduce the aircraft rate of descent by increasing the pitching attitude and at the same time airspeed reducing. one last thing is to hold off the control column or joystick and wait the aircraft to touch the ground.

Im getting on my nerves as my PPL Test is on this 7th Aug.

straight from my heart i only fly 3 times a week, and it is a very slow progress. my parents already told me that they want me to finish fast and work as soon as possible. there is nothing much i can do cause flying is not only about you. it has many factors that should be taken into considerations when we talk about flying. firstly, you have to make sure that the weather permits you to fly under VFR. as far as i know kelantan is very prone to bad weather as the airport is situated in the coastal line. secondly, the aircraft serviceability. not all aircraft are serviceable for a particular day, at worst it can only be one aircraft serviceable and so you got to share among 5plus other cadets per day just to get precious 1 hour of flying. finally is the instructors availability. during your PPL stage, most of your flying will be dual flying with instructors. as for me i fly DA40, and not all instructors can fly it. so i have to bear with it again. i have finished all my ppl exercises except my GH11 and my PPL test which will be held on this year inpendence day celebration.hahahaha.so hopefully it is going to be another victory la for me as a malay and as a malaysian.

Every Citizens Responsibility to Vote

It is good to get yourself into the global and current issues. Malaysia is our country and we are responsible for its future. the nations future is in our hand. too many youth out there who are already reach 21and very busy condemning the government here and there. but when we ask them, have you registered? their answer will be a not yet. it our responsibility. freedom comes with responsibility. it is not a point to shout your opinion here and there, equipped yourself with knowledge and skill first. prove that you can lead the nation then we will talk about it. a good leader comes from a good educations. we as a Malay Muslim people must stand straight and fight to defend our   own country. we must think like a pro. how are we going to help our friends in Palestine for example if we are still fighting with our own type in our own country. come on youth, prove that we are the next leader of this country. do not be fooled. it is important for a democracy country like malaysia. besides the politicians responsibility, actually we are the one who determine its future. i have  lot of friends who has been sponsored by JPA just to further their study. one more time im begging them, do not forget where u came from. i had a talk with some of them, they were like didnt care about the political situations in malaysia. they were even reluctant to register as voters. a registered voter doesnt mean you are active in politics. it is just a single responsibility. come on!! youth..be thankfull for what we have..kick away all the bad thinking and the dark envious side inside you. think whats gonna happen if let say we are no the one governing our own country. dont be a looser..Malay stand forever. im here just to wake you up guys. Satan and the geng are now very close in our community. Beware.!!

i was home for the past few days. so many things passed. i feel like getting married la. once in a life or maybe twice.haha. Though i dont have any gf to be married i still have the feeling of it. erm, maybe igo and meet someone and ask for their daughter la. Sounds ridiculous. dont lie to yourself you as a guy of coz u wanna partner in your life. only God knows whol be with u for the rest of your life. herm. hehehehe. cannot sleep ma..
whatever it is, how much love you wanna put in your spouse bear in mind its only temporary. So, never love anyone or anything more than you love THE ALMIGHTY. easy to speak of it erm. thats the best for us as we are made from clay and only the brilliant one will keep remembering to Him. Life after death is another one. We as a muslim must be able to square the excellence in life and after life. we must keep praying for both of it. insyALLAH with Gods permissions we will achieve what we want to achieve. so all the teenagers out there who are still searching for the true meaning of life as a muslim, never turn back from hadith and sunnah. insyALLAH ul discover what uve been looking for. Asm and selamat malam. im taking off now. good luck my friends. =))) we care for our own generations.

Flying with Army Style.=)

There a mass brief before every flight and there is de-brief after every flight. for 0100hrs sortie it will take about 3 hours including the briefing and the preparations. Flying in Ipoh is a great experience with the mountain areas and the cup shape runway. I flew with an instructor, and during the flight there is no rooms for mistake. I have to give my 100%. As a pilot i have to be 100% mentally and physically fit to carry out and complete the task or missions given. There is checklist, theres the procedures, everything has to be memorized. it is the life that i have to live with to be an airline pilot.=). there will be no regret nor sad during the training as my ambitions at the top of everything. a good pilot always learn. so, i wanna learn and theres no end for it. keep learning keep improving insyAllah ul be in control of it. theres calculations done by the designers and  engineers on the aircraft operations. as a pilot we have to follow exactly every things written in the POH and the checklist. and not forgetting the SOP. i like to fly and learn at the same time. this will strengthen my knowledge in aeronautical and a better chance to be a good pilot. Pilot is a man in uniform who is punctual and discipline. I have control. =) keep it up man.

 Apac 4252 with 30. hehe

Theres the warm between ATC and Pilot.

If there is no other things to do in WMKI. me and my friends would find something that can be episodic. we decided to pay a visit to the WMKI tower. Many thing has been exposed to us during the visit. Aviation is a collaboration between expertise in many different small areas such as controller, flying and designing, and MRO.
Especially piloting, your responsibility is very high. all the efforts thats has been put now it depends on you to make it a success or a spoil. =)

Tuan Shahrul.=)

Life in Ipoh. Was the 1st time in full control of the aircraft. alone. my first solo.=)

It was the time i flew with an instructor for the solo check. alhamdulillah i passed the check. i was granted to do my first circuit solo. at the apron, preparing myself and the aircraft, il be flying the DA-40 9M-NRC. After all the radio call has been made i started taxing into the runway. then i kept praying so that il be safe. =)
it was 12 at noon. it was very gusty. before airborne my aircraft drifted. huhuhu. its ok as long as its airborne. at 70kts, positive roc, i retract the flaps. heres the fear arised. i felt the aircraft is sinking not as usual, i can see the road below me very close to me. if there was a lorry passing by for sure il hit it. hehehehe. i checked everything, loads, speeds, all is ok. then i just pray. trim up and alhamdulillah the aircraft climb. what came up to my mind was the aircraft ECU wasnt working very well. during the downwind its ok base turn and finally. during the final, there was crosswind. i determined and with all the preparations im confident i can land the aircraft. i used crab technique, during touch down theres slight drifting due to wind ( should correct it with one wheel touch first) but alhamdulillah there is no bouncing. huhuhu. what ever it is i can FLYYY!!!

True Principle of Learning.

first of all it was a tough 2 weeks in APFT. Whatever it is i am very happy coz my dream is getting close and closer to be an airline pilot. =))) i was happy and enjoy it to the fullest. there are other things that i wanna achieve here in apft for examples i wannabe a good communicator i mean to enhance my PR skills. to be a pilot is not as easy as i think. it is more than to be a doctor. basically it is a four years course to be a pilot. but as far as its concern, we have to do it in 2 years time, that means we have to give evrything so that wel remember evrything and do it correctly. pilot decision making will take 2 seconds max. so, it is very crucial to be g00d decision maker so that wel do it correctly. i have learned so many new things, new abbreviations and many more that will be used in aviation. eventhough i am a graduate in aeronautical engineering i am still unable to master in evrything that the pilot have mastered in. it is possible for evryone to be a pilot, but u have to have two things, thats passion, effort, patience, and lastly courage to succeed in the field. now im doing my ppl ground school and the test will be on 17th april. hoping for the best and im preparing for the worst. Asm. Cikaro!! i wanna master in the aviation field!!!=))))

1ST week at APFT Kota Bharu.

i was shocked. a bit lazy. at last my dream almost realized. theres only 7 of us in the batch. we are the 42nd batch. i met different type of guys and gals. there are all very determine in achieving their dreams. i am 23. the eldest in the batch is 28. hahaha and the youngest is 18. im not too old and not too young. im not allowed to be outside during the first 1 month. but i dont abite to it, i went out last nyte.and now im at my uncles house. what to do...the class start at 7.15 am and finish at 5pm. its pack. i dont even have time to enjoy the day.all is about class and knowledge. now im doing my PPL. its an in house syllabus. i have to finish the first part, then im free. i mean i can be wherever i want at whatever time and conditions. i just dont care. for the time being i will just study and score the test that will be held on 17th april. then im going back for a week. study smart is the best way to describe it. i wannabe a pilot so i have to go through all this things, i have to be patience and hopefully i can get use to it. after this im thinking of joining airlines. i wanna be an airline pilot. by 25 i will serve in the airline. i dont care if im competing with the sons of any political leader in the states. i just wanna it to be a clean and fair selection process. and now i miss my family. And last week mas advertised the pilot vacancy in their airline, and hence they willonly take the direct intake, the one eith frozen ATPL. there will be no more cadetship in their airlines bcoz they are now short of income and by doing that,it will save their company expenses. So, right now i just gonna pray for the best and hopefully il be a PIC. To all my friends my prayer walks with you and hopefully all of us gonna success in this world and the life after. just take care of your self and make sure u do what is right for you and your religion. Assalamualaikum. Riza Zahari.

Asia Pacific Flight Training for my Frozen ATPL. =)))

I was in subang on last thursday. i was there to do my medical check up. it is important for me to have a class 1 medical certificate then il be able to get my pilot license. i was early, at 8.30am i registered, i waited for about half an hour then the Dr. called me. inside the room, i was asked to take off my clothes. gosh...a bit shy but i had to...my eyesight, my hearing, my xray, my lung and my heart all was being checked and its all normal.
its unexplainable how i feel about this. im just indeed very happy excited!!!all u can say!!! insyALLAH.
if u want to achieve something, u must not afraid of taking steps. People can say so and so. but bear in mind, u know yourself better than they do. =)))

Theres a tennis tournament in UIA. me and the gang from Putrajaya were invited by UIA commity to join the game. only 8 of us able to join the game. me partnering abe nan from mas ops. tomorrow wel be playing quarter final..the sad part was i lost to biggy and fatty child!! it was a single quarter final, we were playing pro set. i lost 8-5. how come??? i just changed my racket, now im using the dunlop 500 tour, previously i used dunlop 300, the new one is a bit heavier compare to the 300.. so, i will need at least 2 weeks to get used with the racket.  im open with my lost. things i learned today, never under estimate anyone who is big and fatty coz hes able to kick and punch u. i played baseline balls,,,i should drop and lob.maybe this time il let him have a good time. next tournament is the truth...ceh!!!! Those who read this. pray for the best. InsyALLAH, what u give u get back!!! bubbye

Health and Fitness

The most precious gift to all the human beings is the health. Last weeks my brother and i join the tennis LTAM first leg at Jalan Duta. It was a straight 3 days tournament or maybe a carnival. There were single and double match. I partnered my brother. Total prize money owned RM200. Its cheap.
After the carnival, i have a difficulty to stretch my chest muscle. I surf everywhere searching for the causes and effects of chest injury. I came across a website, its the lung cancer page. How come...I was despair as i thought i was suffering from cancer. i met a doc, he said its just a muscle problems. of course that has chilled me up!!! Im a smoker, a professional smoker, now on the 1st week of quitting smoking. more than 300 poisonous chemicals inside a rod. those chemicals can contribute to any illness such as muscle injury and short breath. Hopefully im able to achieve the target. Fly high and stop smoking. dream high!!!

UNeasy.

Tomorrow will be the day that will decide and determine my future career. it will be a day where Air Asia will email me regarding the results of the 1st stage that i attended previously. From 1000 applicants, only 500 shortlisted for the first stage and now for the second stage there will be only 120 candidates who will be shortlisted. so, its kind of uneasy for me. as far as i know, the physics, math and eng they are all simple and direct. the problem is the IQ one. The last paper of the 1st stage. Its totally bullshit. Its an IQ test used to identify weather you are qualify to be a pilot or not. So good luck!!
